Former The Voice coach Ariana Grande took to TikTok this week to respond to fans’ recent concern about her weight. She encouraged people to “be gentler” about commenting on other people’s bodies, because you might not know someone’s true situation.
Ariana Grande Responds to Weight Concerns
In her new TikTok video, Grande shared her belief that everyone “should be gentler and less comfortable commenting on people’s bodies.” She emphasized that “there are many different ways to look healthy and beautiful.”
“I know personally, for me, the body that you’ve been comparing my current body to was the unhealthiest version of my body,” Grande shared. “I was on a lot of antidepressants, and drinking on them, and eating poorly, and at the lowest point of my life when I looked the way you consider my healthy. But that, in fact, wasn’t my healthy.”
Grande acknowledged that she “shouldn’t have to explain that,” but she shared her hope that “something good might come” from being open about it.
The singer went on to point out that “you never know what someone is going through,” adding, “Even if you are coming from a loving place and a caring place, that person probably is working on it, or has a support system that they are working on it with.”

Grande finished her video with a kind message to those watching, telling everyone that they’re “beautiful no matter what phase you’re in.”
“Sending you guys a lot of love,” Grande said. “And I think you’re beautiful no matter what you’re going through. No matter what weight, no matter how you like to do your makeup these days, no matter what cosmetic procedures you’ve had or not, or anything.”
The star is currently busy filming the Wicked movie adaptations, in which she’s playing the role of Glinda. Cynthia Erivo is co-starring as Elphaba. The first movie is scheduled to be released on November 27, 2024.
