Nick Cannon is sharing his vulnerable side in the video for his new song “No Weapon.” The inspirational song is a cover from the popular 1996 song of the same name. Cannon’s cover sees him showcasing his singing talent as well as his piano skills.
“No Weapon” also features gospel legend, Kierra Sheard. The two singers were accompanied by a choir as they belted out the well-known song. The black and white video shows Cannon harmonizing, a talent that many did not know The Masked Singer host had.
Known for his hit songs such as “Gigolo” and “Get Crunk Shorty,” this side of Cannon is a stark contrast from what people have come to expect and love. The payoff for listeners will be a feeling of hope from the entertainer who has been through a lot over these last couple of years, including the death of his infant son.
The video was a part of Cannon’s Ncredible Session video series. Fans of Cannon will know that Ncredible is his multi-media company that was established in 2009.
Nick Cannon is an Inspiration
Cannon is no stranger to the world of inspiration and gospel music. The entrepreneur was raised in a Christian household. Cannon’s father, James Cannon, was also a motivational televangelist in the San Diego area. Cannon always kept a personal relationship with his faith. He would often visit church on Sundays alongside his father.
“No Weapon” was originally released last April on Good Friday. Around that time, Cannon saw himself in hot water for his comments regarding the Jewish community. Since the controversy, Cannon’s career has bounced back. His once canceled show Wild -N- Out returned, He continued his Masked Singer hosting duties, and his daytime talk show went on as scheduled.
Cannon’s rendition of “No Weapons” was featured in his movie She-Ball. The movie was released this past summer and is currently available on Amazon Prime Video.
Cannon’s inspirational career journey continues to shine a light on where he is in his life currently. Recently, he released “Running Back to You” off the Miracles Across 125th Street soundtrack. The Christmas movie premiered this past holiday season as he continued his streak of writing, producing, directing, and starring in his movies.
