After refusing to release new music in five years, Rita Ora has finally dropped her third studio album, You & I. According to her, this brand-new music collection is a relaunch of her artistry — a deeply intimate introduction of herself.

Rita Ora Says New Record You & I is “Super Personal”

During her appearance on Audacy Check In, Ora took the time to talk about the value of her third studio album. Apparently, the singer-songwriter was fully in-charge of the collection.

“I really wrote everything on this record, it’s sort of like a re-introduction. If people don’t know me and they’re hearing me right now, it’s a really good way to get to know me. It’s a super-personal album but still very fun and exciting,” she said.

With You & I, Ora intends to open up about her life to listeners. Consequently, amid her newly found creative freedom, she wishes to crack the facade that she’s put up over the years.

“I haven’t put an album out in about five years. So, I really wanted people to feel close to me. I wanted this album to break down any barriers or walls that might have been built up,” she said.

Last May, Ora released the accompanying video of “Praising You,” the third track of her latest album. The British performer worked alongside her husband Taika Waititi in the creation of the music video.

“Taika and I are creatively super, super in sync. He’s got such a great sense of humor; we kind of bonded over our love for the same thing. So, when I asked him to do the video, he was super on board, and we just went for it,” she said.

As stated by Ora, having Watiti in the production of the music video felt “cool and natural.” In addition, Ora mentioned that there exists a safety aspect to the creative process as Watiti already knows her tricks.

“Especially because we’re together, me and Taika have to make sure we kill it…” she said. “You don’t want to do something kind of whack.”

While the “For You” singer has just released a fantastic studio album, she plans to drop another one. Ora recently revealed that she recently tapped Keith Urban for a music collaboration.

“I just wanted things to feel iconic, so I actually got a feature recently just come in – I just asked Keith Urban. We became friends on The Voice,” she said. “He was just super, super supportive. And it felt really cool to get him on a song, especially since he’s an icon.”

Ora didn’t reveal anything just yet about the upcoming partnership. Be that as it may, fan can only expect the best from the two.
